After several years of significant expansion, global pet food production slowed in 2025, according to Alltech’s 2026 Agri-Food Outlook report. The company attributed this slowdown to normalization in the North American market following expansive growth driven by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Global pet food tonnage reached 39.28 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 2.4% (917,000 tonnes) from 38.36 million tonnes in 2024. For reference, tonnage increased 4.5% from 2023 to 2024.
