No more one-size-fits-all: Customization takes industry by storm

Customization is not a new approach to pet nutrition. For years, pet parents have turned to veterinarians for therapeutic diets to manage medical conditions in their dogs and cats. A cat suffering from kidney disease might have been prescribed a specially formulated diet with reduced phosphorus and sodium and high amounts of protein. A dog with diabetes could have been prescribed food that’s high in fiber and protein but low in fat to stabilize blood sugar levels. Veterinarian-prescribed diets were the true definition of customized nutrition.
