When President Trump signed the fiscal year 2026 appropriations package into law on Tuesday, it included reauthorization of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) through Dec. 31, 2026, with effect retroactively from Sept. 30, 2025, when the prior legislation expired.
The trade preference program is a cornerstone of U.S.-Africa trade relations that helps strengthen economic growth and improve U.S. trade and investment in the sub-Saharan region.
