As part of the state’s efforts to protect its livestock industry from the spread of New World screwworm (NWS) cases, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on June 13 the launch of a free online training course. The purpose of the four-hour, modular course is to educate participants about NWS and serve as the first step for some to become an NWS Certified Inspector in the Texas Animal Health Commission’s (TAHC) authorized personnel system.
